    HEY ABS!

Didn’t get to say goodbye today, but will follow your days in Guate. Sounds like you will not get much sleep on Monday night. We will pray for some rest on the plane and also for smooth arrival through customs, as Dan has asked us to do. Do tell Dan and Heidi who your grandparents are, though they may recognize the Grit name. This morning at Camp Geneva’s church we met Erin, the intern for Dan and Heidi, parents. Her mom and I taught together for the Christian Learning Center. Julile was in Guate last week. Also, her sister Kara is on the kitchen staff at Camp Geneva. By the way this is called “Dutch Bingo!” Bet this impresses you, NOT! TeeHee!! 🙂

Anyway have a great time, updae often and we will try to write you too.

love and kisses – grandpa and grandma

Can’t wait to get an update. I guess you went to La Bendicion until Thursday. So, I suppose we won’t get any updates until then. I understand there are coldish showers there, but that they will be warm when you get to the base. Hope that you are having a great time and learning how to be “builders!” How was that “pink” stucko? Did you get it in your hair and on your shoes??? Also, hope you are enjoying the kids and have lots of candy for them.
Thinking about you and praying for you and your friends as you work building houses and building relationships to glorify the KING!

    love, grandma

    Abby,

I’m sure you’re having a fantastic time, so soak it all in — it will come and go very quickly! I know it was for me when we went to Nicaragua . . . it’s eye-opening, fun, hard work, and best of all it allows you to see a whole ‘nuther culture, especially if there are kids around that want to play. 😉

Be blessed, and be a blessing.

    Abby

Hope you are not getting eaten by masquito’s or any other creepy crawlies down there. Hope you are enjoying the life learning experience. I hope you are coming to realize you really dont have it so bad in life. We all love you very much and miss you.

    🙂

    Wednesday
Another day,.. those houses must almost be built by now as dedication is on Thursday. In my mind I can see your group surrounding the houses and seeing the new owners excited to “move in!” Praying that the new owners have seen your hands as the hands of Jesus and accept Him into their hearts. What a great opportunity to be part of such a great experience!

Nothing much new here except a sleep-over with Will, Katie, Karissa, Karlie and LEXI! The kids are all in one room having a great time. Hope they get some sleep! I bet you sleep at night, as you are probably exhausted from all that construction work.

    Love and Kisses, Grandma

    Hey ABS!

Was excited to have a message from you Abby. Sounds like you are having a great time. Hopefully you have lots of pictures of trhe house you built and of the family who moved into it. Can’t wait to hear your stories.

Read that the base had rain on Thursday. Wondering how the roads were. I remember them being the worst I had ever been on, buit also kinda fun to tell about once we were home. If it rained they would be even more challenging. 🙂

Will continue to pray for you as you do the medical clinics and play with the kids. I loved that time, as the kids were really cute. I also remember how chilly it got at night. Couldn’t believe that Guate is so near the equator.

Have fun your last couple of days and again be blessed!

    love, grandma

    HI!
Did you ride in the Ford 15 passenger 2 Wheel drive van that I drove from Minneapolis to Dan’s house in Hamilton? Are you still smiling? 🙂 I am smiling thinking about you. 🙂 Praying for a safe trip and lots of memories.
    Love, Grandpa

  • 24. Abby  |  July 25, 2009 at 9:07 am

Yes that is the van i have been riding in the whole time. i have not once rode in the other one. seeing everyone makes me smile and everything down here is really cool how could you not smile. i have talked to dan, erin and karen and they all remember you and grandma. we have one day left of doing meds and then were going to the market and then coming home monday.

  • 25. Grandma Grit  |  July 25, 2009 at 12:27 pm

    ABBY,
Sounds like an awesome adventure. YEP, the roads….they will live on in your memory. Want to take the Grand Am there and give it a lesson in what not to drive on? Maybe u’d best take the Tempo. It wouldn’t even notice the bumpity, bump. ONE rock, One hole, One rock, one hole. One hill… YEP that’s Guate!!! Don’t you love how they pass each other too…around curves, up hills, down hills, just whenever someone thinkd someone else is going too slow!!!

Then there’s the laundry markets, or something like that. I remember the circle of women to laundry in a big pond or something. Must have been the laundromat!

Have fun with the kids tonight at the clinic. Paint lots of nails, give lots of candy, and share Jesus’ love.
LOVE to u and the whole team.

    Grandma
