    Hola –

Yes, I’m in Guatemala again – 3rd trip this year! I arrived Monday at noon & leave on Sunday afternoon. I’m here at the same time as Team Coopersville although I won’t meet them until Thursday night. They arrived Sunday night & went to La Bendicion. Thursday they will dedicate the houses there & then return to Chimaltenango. Friday & Saturday will be medical clinic/village outreach days.

On Tuesday, we (Heidi, the kids, Noemi, me) met Margarita & Brandon for lunch at Pollo Campero. We also shopped for vegetable plants & flowers. Both gardens are planted – hydrangeas, zinias, & lots of vegetables!

Ben & Malachi had a 1st on Tuesday – they threw “dulce” out the Explorer window to the kids in the villages on the road to the base. It was so cool to be sitting in the backseat & watch their smiles as they gave away the candy.

Today’s project was organizing the garage……well, start organizing the garage. Sue Sue – help!! Hopefully I can make some more progress tomorrow before Dan gets back from Bendicion!

Tomorrow afternoon, Heidi & I might head to Antigua with the kids if Malachi is feeling better. He’s had a fever & stuffy nose for a day now – pray that he gets well soon.

It hasn’t been raining too much this week, until now – WOW! The rain pounding on the metal roof is really loud. Estuardo was out investigating villages today and got stuck. Max & Noemi left awhile ago to rescue him. Pray that they get back here safely!

Enjoy the pictures. I’ll try to post some videos this week too.

    Adios!
    Karen

love the pics, the color and the smiles. Treasure says woof to Chloe. 2 showings of the house yesterday – 1 scheduled for today. Praying to keep calm, patient and relaxed 🙂 Much easier to pray for you! God bless you Karen, your team and all your efforts.
    love, Anne

    Karen,
I am so glad that you are there safe and are having a good time! Have fun with the organizing! I am putting another reminder in everyones boxes about the Guate trip in January and am scheduling a brief meeting for everyone whos is interested in learning more on Sunday Aug 2. Let me know if that date won’t work. I am a bit concerned that we don’t have very many people signed up yet. I have been praying for guidance on what God wants us to do. Let me know your thoughts as well. May God dump many many blessings all over your head today!

Say hi to Heidi, Dan, Noemi, Estuardo and give the kids a hug from me.
    Love you my sister,
    Kristy

    Karen,

Thanks for the pictures. The new base looks good but it looks like you have your work cut out for you. Here is some advise. Clean up before Dan gets back. He won’t let you get rid of anything. Keep the pictures coming.

I’ll keep praying for you as you tackle that garage,
    Sue Sue

    Hola!!
Had another great day…..in the garage. I’ll wait until tomorrow to take pictures of the finished project since there are about 15 garbage bags full of clothes that are being picked up in the morning. I’m not sure if Dan has seen it yet – anxious to see what my grade is going to be! I even “built” a set of shelves in there today….who needs IKEA?!? Jack – we could have built it a little bigger, although it just needed a womens touch 🙂 (Bob says hello).
Another project today was filling the kid’s pool – they had a blast in it this afternoon!! The 1st pool guest was a crab but after we set him free, the kids enjoyed the pretty cold water.
Team Coopersville arrived around 6pm. I think all of them were happy to see Dominos Pizza & Coke for dinner, and a hot shower for dessert. It was a treat being part of their devotions, sharing God sightings, & singing tonight.
Joan – thanks for the message! Abby is doing well, other than a few bug bites. I’m anxious to spend a couple of days with this group – they have a lot of energy!
Kristy – Aug 2 sounds great. DON’T worry….it’s all GOOD!
Emily – thanks for taking care of Uncle Civ for a couple of days.
Thanks for the messages everyone – it’s great to hear from all of you!!
Tomorrow morning the team gets to sleep in until 7am, which means I’ll be getting up earlier than usual this week….. We need to work on getting the meds ready for the next 2 days.
Enjoy the pictures. I’ve been able to download a few of the team members pictures too so check out the main page.
    Love & miss you all,
    Karen

    Hi everyone –
Another beautiful day in paradise! Even though Team Coopersville could sleep in this morning, they were all awake by 6am…much earlier than I’ve been used to this week.
Breakfast, personal devo time, packing meds, group devotions (thanks Erin), lunch, and then the group was on their way.
Noemi & I have been hanging out with the kids this afternoon/evening & are having a great time. Tomorrow night I’ll go to the medical clinic.
The excitement, well not really for the kids, was this morning when I walked outside at about 7am & the guard came up to me & said “La piscina – no agua, no agua!” Sure enough, we walked around the corner and the pool was dry! Note to self – make sure the pool is very flat & level before filling. One side caved down & a whole truckload of water went down the hill…….
Hope all of you have a great weekend!
    Hasta luego,
    Karen

  • 16. Karen Lepine  |  July 25, 2009 at 10:47 am

    Good morning!
Luckily the girls decided to sleep in today – 8am is much better than 6am! I found a new favorite breakfast – pancakes with peanut butter & nutella (chocolate peanut butter). It melts together & is like a Reese’s Peanut Butter cup pancake – delicious!! Had to wash it down with some Mt Dew that I brought for Dan. Quite the breakfast of champions….
Getting ready for team devotions & then off to the med clinic.
Sue Sue – Nasario stopped at the base yesterday & he thought I was you 🙂
Gotta go – I introduced Ben to You Tube last night and now he’s anxious to watch more paintball tournaments on my laptop.
    Have a great weekend.
    Love you all,
    Karen

  • 18. sue krommenkyk  |  July 25, 2009 at 4:27 pm

    Hi Karen,

You do know why Nasario got us mixed up, don’t you? It’s because we look so much alike. Nice pool. I hope garage organizing goes better than pool installation.
    See you soon,
    Sue Sue
